The space
The Encounter Earthship is the newest official Earthship making it one of the most evolved and comfortable off-grid house on the planet.

It grows plenty of fruit and vegetables, it catches and stores rainwater and uses the energy of the sun to power your wifi and provide a beautiful hot shower when needed.

It uses thermal mass to keep cool in summer and provide toasty warm comfort in winter and 40% of it is constructed using recycled materials (tires, cans, bottles).

The Encounter Earthship is filled with light from its glass front, which also provides the most wonderful views both day time and night time (no light pollution here!).

Started in 1994, this Earthship subdivision is the only official off-grid subdivision in the world and encompasses 630 acres of rolling sage-covered mesa with a deep gorge and beautiful views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

The sunrises and sunsets are special every day, and the non-existent light pollution makes star gazing one of the favorite activities of visitors and residents alike.

Feel free to stroll along the main community road if you choose (you will get a pass that gives you access to it), we just ask you to please not approach the homes- they are private.

Guests have access to the Earthship Visitors Center FREE OF CHARGE to learn all about Earthships. This will also be your meeting point to check in. A free tour is included in your rental price.

There are two bedrooms and two baths in this home with a large kitchen, dining room and living room. There is one king sized bed in each bedroom. The living room is equipped with TV with Netflix and DVD player and wireless internet.
